The Natasha Chichilnisky-Heal Emerging Scholars Conference: Topics in Global Environmental Justice

This conference will honor the intellectual legacy and memory of Natasha Chichilnisky-Heal, a young scholar concerned with natural resource management and global environmental inequities. We welcome contributions from advanced PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. An award of $2500 will be made to the most provocative and stimulating paper. The conference will combine a poster session for graduate students and postdocs, with interdisciplinary graduate student and postdoc panels and a key note speaker. We welcome participation from any multiple disciplines, including anthropology, climate science, epidemiology, geography, sociology, history, and others. There will be multiple panels. Some panel topics are pre-selected; the topics of other panels will be determined based on the submission of abstracts. Panel 1: Extractive Industries and Human Rights Panel 2: Migration, displacement and climate change Panel 3: Environmental justice and adaptions to climate change Other panel topics to be determined by abstract submissions. Abstracts should be sent to by August 31, 2019 with the subject line “Natasha Abstract Submission”. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words. Please list 3 to 5 keywords and indicate your interest in a panel presentation or poster session. Limited funding for travel will be made available on a competitive basis. Registration will open in July 2019. There will be a minimal registration fee for attendees. Registration fees will be waived for presenters.
