The Natasha Chichilnisky-Heal Emerging Scholars Conference: Topics in Global Environmental Justice

This conference will honor the intellectual legacy and memory of Natasha Chichilnisky-Heal, a young scholar concerned with natural resource management and global environmental inequities. We welcome contributions from advanced PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. An award of $2500 will be made to the most provocative and stimulating paper. The conference will combine a poster session for graduate students and postdocs, with interdisciplinary graduate student and postdoc panels and a key note speaker. We welcome participation from any multiple disciplines, including anthropology, climate science, epidemiology, geography, sociology, history, and others. There will be multiple panels. Some panel topics are pre-selected; the topics of other panels will be determined based on the submission of abstracts. Panel 1: Extractive Industries and Human Rights Panel 2: Migration, displacement and climate change Panel 3: Environmental justice and adaptions to climate change Other panel topics to be determined by abstract submissions. Abstracts should be sent to Amity.Doolittle@yale.edu by August 31, 2019 with the subject line “Natasha Abstract Submission”. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words. Please list 3 to 5 keywords and indicate your interest in a panel presentation or poster session. Limited funding for travel will be made available on a competitive basis. Registration will open in July 2019. There will be a minimal registration fee for attendees. Registration fees will be waived for presenters.
