For the past few years, the EESG has held its virtual Energy Geographies conference in January. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this conference so far! As the Energy Geographies conference has grown, so too has the amount of organizing needed to pull it off. At the same time, the EESG has also been organizing and sponsoring more sessions and events at the AAG conference, which has led to the EESG Leadership Team essentially organizing two conferences at the same time from October through the end of AAG in March or April.

Therefore, the EESG Leadership Team has decided to shift the Energy Geographies conference onto a fall schedule, with the 5th Annual Energy Geographies conference to be held virtually on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Mark your calendars! Further information on abstract submission deadlines will be sent in the spring, and will take into account the fact that many of our presenters are graduate students who may be conducting fieldwork over the summer. 

The Energy Geographies Conference welcomes everyone, regardless of career stage, from graduate students to seasoned energy geographers (broadly defined). Building on the success of previous conferences, we intend for this to be a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly space where we can meet, engage, share ideas, collaborate, and strengthen our EESG community. In light of the intended interactive nature of this conference, it is a professional expectation for participants to engage throughout the event. Moreover, presenters are required to submit their presentation materials in advance of the conference.
