The post is in Nanjing, and involves instruction in a program co-organized by Yangtze International University, the University of Arizona's Study Abroad, and UA's Department of Geography and Regional Development. This is a good opportunity for the right person, and although it is technically temporary, we foresee long term potential in this position. Yangtze International Study Abroad (YISA). YISA, in collaboration with the University of Arizona's Study Abroad Program and the Department of Geography and Regional Development at the University of Arizona (UA), invites applications for a lecturer in the Geography of China. We seek an excellent teacher who will deliver, in English, a series of courses on the geography, economy, urbanization and environment of China. Other specialized courses may be considered. The initial course load is two three-credit hour courses per semester. Annualized salary for this temporary but renewable position is $30,000 USD. Courses will be delivered through the joint YISA-UA program (www.YISA-china.org), and will join a program of study already delivered in political science. Courses will be taught on the campus of Nanjing Normal University. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in geography and be expected to contribute to the management of the program and the recruiting of students. We are looking for a motivated self-starter who is able to work with diverse students and colleagues, and who has experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives. Fluency or a high level of proficiency in Chinese is expected, as is field experience in the country. Anticipated start date is February 2008.
